TentBox, the company responsible for the recent surge in rooftop car-camping, have released their latest, lightest model. Here's a first look of the TentBox Go, with a full review from one of LFTO's testers to come later in the spring.
The TentBox Go is the lightest model that TentBox make - and as it happens, is also the lightest roof tent in the world. At 33kgs, it weighs a full 17kg less than the TentBox Lite, which we reckon will make a hell of a difference in terms of fuel efficiency and ease of setup when it comes to lugging it on and off your car. It also costs less too, with an RRP of £995 in comparison to the £1295 RRP of the next cheapest model.
We'll find out in an upcoming review what this £300 difference means in terms of performance, but on the surface, this more accessible price point will surely encourage more folk to take a punt on what has, until now, been a pretty exclusive price bracket.
TentBox say that once installed, setup takes less than 60 seconds - useful for when you want immediate shut-eye without having to spend ages finding a pitch. Features include an anti-bug mesh on all windows and doors, integrated storage pockets, and a large zippable skylight for stargazing. As this is the lightest, most stripped back model, you won't find much in the way of bells and whistles, but that's what keeps the weight down.
Speaking of weight, the whole product is made with a lightweight aluminium frame, and comes with aluminium fixing rails designed to fit standard roof rack. Inside, you'll get a new stretched fabric bed similar to a camping cot (TentBox also sell a self-inflating topper for extra comfort) and the walls are made with a durable ripstop fabric.
We're very excited to be putting the TentBox Go to the test next season, but in the meantime, you can check out further details on TentBox's website. The Go is available to buy from the 20th of August 2024.
