With a heavy focus on fell and hillwalking, the Scarpa Rush TRK GTX walking boot certainly catches the attention of many Brits.
As a boot version of the Scarpa Rush Trail GTX shoe, the Rush TRK GTX is available in both men’s and women’s-specific fits and colours.
Scarpa Rush TRK GTX upper
Scarpa has made the Rush TRK GTX to provide an ideal balance between solidity and stability, and low weight. To achieve solidity and stability, the Rush TRK GTX has a taller ankle collar than most mid-cut hiking boots to improve ankle support. It’s padded with memory foam and cleverly follows the walker’s ankle movement and avoids creating pressure points. Scarpa calls it an Autofit 3D COLLAR.
Although the Rush TRK GTX doesn’t look like a classic leather boot, it uses 1.6-1.8mm suede leather. This helps the boot’s waterproofing, durability, and toughness.
Behind the leather is a reliable Gore-Tex waterproof lining. Like the use of leather, Gore-Tex is breathable and durable, which provides the performance you want and peace of mind too.
Scarpa Rush TRK GTX sole
On the underside of the Rush TRK GTX, Scarpa uses its own Presa TRK-01 sole. This comprises of low-density EVA inserts for cushioning; TPU stabiliser shank; mid-density EVA midsole; and outsole. The design ensures lasting comfort and stability, while the outsole delivers the grip.
The outsole is made of a sticky but durable rubber compound called SuperGum. Its lug pattern on the heel provides braking, while the area on the forefoot aids propulsion. At the toe is the outsole’s ‘maximum grip area’.
One of the major plus points of the Rush TRK GTX – and indeed all Scarpa footwear – is that it can be re-soled. This is great for the longevity of Scarpa footwear and also reducing our fast consumption of footwear.
